AIRTRAIN

Completion of electrical work on JFK International Airport’s Airtrain System included track lighting, signal, and station work. Airtrain is a ten station 8.4 mile automated, driverless, standard gauge steel rail system operating over an exclusive, mostly elevated guideway. Airtrain connects JFK Central Terminal Area consisting of six stations linking nine terminals to the Howard Beach Subway Station, Long Term Parking Station, Federal Circle Car Rental Station, and Jamaica LIRR/Subway Station.

WORLD TRADE CENTER – PATH STATION

E-J was selected by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey with only six months remaining to complete the World Trade Center Path Station (New York) side of this fast track project. E-J performed $22 million of work on the Path Station in six months to meet the project completion date. The work included lighting, power, fire alarm, heat tracing, HVAC control system, RF Emergency Antenna system, variable message signage, Closed Circuit Television Surveillance system, Passenger Emergency Telephone system, Motorman’s Blue Light Telephone system, Passenger Information Display system, Corrosion Control system, Scada system, Traction Power system for the third rail, Public Address system and Uninterruptible Power Supply systems for this high usage Mass Transit railroad station. E-J is proud to make this first phase of reconstruction of the World Trade Center site a success.

LIRR HILLSIDE CAR MAINTENANCE FACILITY

E-J was chosen for our experience, reputation and engineering to perform the electrical installation at the, fifteen acre, Long Island Railroad’s Hillside Car Maintenance Facility. This $22 million time and material contract teamed E-J Electric with the Long Island Railroad, the construction manager, and the engineer in developing the most cost efficient method to complete systems ranging from Robotics to train motion alarm systems. All cost savings were returned to the Long Island Railroad. Their confidence in us was demonstrated by their doubling the original scope of our contract to include the most complex systems.

Specialty items on the job included signal work, train motion detection systems, rail lighting, forty foot high industrial lighting, public address, security, and fire alarm systems, automatic temperature control multiplex system, automated material handling robotics system, conveyer system, certified broadband communication cable, and a complete DC power distribution system including traction, trolley and auxiliary power systems.
