JAZZ @ LINCOLN CENTER

Performance Hall contains 1600 seats and includes rehearsal rooms and recording facilities. It is located immediately above the retail area of the Building. Frederick P. Rose Hall is the new home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, one of twelve constituent organizations on the campus of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. It is the world’s first performing arts facility designed specifically for jazz education, performance, and broadcast.

The multi-room facility is highly flexible allowing new forms of interaction between the audience and musicians and creating an experience informed by the unique sound, function and feeling of jazz. The facility or venue is the cultural centerpiece of Time Warner Center, a new 2.1 million square foot landmark development at Columbus Circle. This development is the largest mixed-use complex in New York history.

ED SULLIVAN THEATER – STEPHEN COLBERT

E-J did the installation of lighting and electrical work for Stephen Colbert’s new television production studio and offices at the Ed Sullivan Theater. E-J originally assisted with renovations to this same theater when David Letterman began hosting the show. The Ed Sullivan Theater is a Landmark Building and has historical significance. The scope of work included renovations to the new studio and offices on the 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th floors of the building, including the green rooms on the stage, cellar green rooms and makeup areas, as well as full fire alarm upgrades, telephone and data infrastructure upgrades, and audiovisual and security support. E-J was able to complete this project in just five weeks to support the new show.

AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY – ROSE CENTER FOR EARTH AND SPACE

E-J performed multiple projects for the American Museum of Natural History including Hayden Planetarium, Phase I Services, and Phase II Rose Center for Earth and Space. E-J’s scope of work includes the replacement of the Hayden Planetarium with a state of the art 90 foot diameter spherical Sky theater/Planetarium, addition of an exhibition hall, 3 story 350 car underground parking garage, a public plaza, new gallery space, restaurant, new public entranceway and portico offices.  This state-of-the-art complex includes the latest in fiber optics, audio, video and theatrical lighting control technologies.

BARCLAYS CENTER

E-J Electric initially worked with Turner Construction, Flack & Kurtz, and Frank Gehry Architects in an overall “Design Assist” role for all electrical systems for a 20,000-seat arena partially located over a former railroad yard in downtown Brooklyn.  When Hunt Construction and Ellerbe Becket were brought on to redesign the project earlier this year, E-J continued to work with F & K and took on the additional responsibility as the low voltage systems design builder with Ermco Electric and Parsons/TSI.

The 675,000 sq. ft. NBA approved; state of the art facility will feature “best in class” technology with redundant infrastructure for flexibility & growth.  Broadcasters will have consistent & reliable connectivity with easy access.  Wireless coverage is designed to cover 100 % of the arena space.

USTA NATIONAL TENNIS CENTER

The National Tennis Center is the home of the annual US Open Tennis Championship. This project was the expansion and redevelopment of a forty-two-acre site with the new 23,000 seat Arthur Ashe Stadium as its centerpiece. Installation of all Low-Voltage Systems including Broadcast TV/Radio, Scoring, Internal Cable TV System, Internal Audio, Voice, and Computer Networking. This project was a turnkey project and included the cabling system as well as the active components. The cable plant consists of over 2.2 million feet (415 miles) of high-performance cable with over 80,000 terminations. E-J also designed and implemented a fiber optic network for the entire campus on behalf of the USTA.

Expansion and redevelopment of the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Park, the home of the annual US Open Grand Slam Championship Tournament. The existing site is 17.3 acres and is being expanded by 24.9 acres consisting of a new 23,000 seat Arthur Ashe Stadium, fifteen site courts, nine new practice courts, a new food court and renovations to the existing stadium.

E-J’s scope included the installation of turnkey multi-media systems, covering network (CBS & International) broadcast, internal cable TV distribution, scoring systems and audio capabilities covering telephone, umpire, and scorekeeper announcements. Systems supplied include television head end equipment, remote fiber optic cameras, outdoor high capacity loudspeakers and all electronic equipment.

MADAME TUSSAUD’S WAX MUSEUM

E-J did the installation of lighting and electrical work for the famous Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum in New York City. E-J’s scope of work included the new construction of this wax museum, 9 stories of multiple exhibits ranging from wax figures to scenic backdrops, a working guillotine and a 360-degree theater.  Work consists of all power distribution, Fire Alarm, Audio-Visual and theatrical lighting.

USTA NATIONAL TENNIS CENTER – LOUIS ARMSTRONG STADIUM

Louis Armstrong Stadium was the main venue of the US Open until 1997 when the new Arthur Ashe Stadium was completed.  Originally named the Singer Bowl, Louis Armstrong Stadium was built in 1964 for the World’s Fair.  As the final Phase of the USTA’s Redevelopment Project, Louis Armstrong Stadium underwent a major renovation and modernization in under 1 year.

EJ’s scope of work included ALL electrical, communication, broadcast and technical systems within this facility. Electrically the entire existing electrical system was gutted from the service to final loads. A new service and distribution system were installed. Service and distribution equipment included 5kV, 277/480V and 120/208V equipment and wiring.  Also installed was entire fit-out of public spaces within the stadium including extensive architectural lighting of the Great Hall.  Also included was retail and concession space and a new ticket office.

Modernization of this decades old facility included installation of state-of-the-art broadcast cabling infrastructure to match the newly constructed Arthur Ashe Stadium.  A modern data/voice infrastructure was also installed to handle the Ticket Office, Retail, Concession, Scoring and back office requirements.  A new Broadband TV Distribution and Audio system was installed.  All systems were integrated into the new existing campus systems, bringing the entire campus to the leading edge of technology.

E-J is the electrical contractor of choice to provide electrical maintenance at Citifield since 2009. This is an ongoing contract that includes emergency service as well as routine maintenance. E-J performs work for all Live Nation concert events held at CitiField.

BARCODE TIMES SQUARE

Interactive Entertainment Center, Galactic Circus located in Times Square, is an adult-oriented cyberspace entertainment venue complete with games, a DJ, and a bar scene.  Galactic circus combines the nostalgic best of the old-world carnival and Coney Island sideshow attractions with the latest technology and excitement of today’s virtual interactive games.  Over 100 games and moving stimulating rides. E-J provided all lighting, power, audio visual, fire alarm and lighting controls.

UNITED NATIONS ASSEMBLY HALL

E-J maintained all the United Nations electrical, electronic, broadcasting and communications systems throughout the New York Headquarters. An engineering staff and a workforce of over 140 electricians and technicians were permanently on site.  Various projects from design through construction were managed and completed by E-J Electric including Assembly Hall as well as the complete renovation and retrofit of radio station #5 for BBC.
